I’m so excited to share Jenna and Chad’s engagement session on the blog. For our first meeting these two invited me over to their house to ensure I was a “good fit”. I love when couples do this because it really is SO important. Personalities should jive, especially since I spend one of the biggest moments of your life with you. We hit it off and spent a few hours just chatting with them on their deck. When they sent me an email stating they wanted to book, I was thrilled. They are such a great couple and I was so excited to work with them.
When they said they were going to spend the weekend in Ithaca camping and wanted to incorporate their engagement session into this trip I was even more thrilled. These people are kindred spirits. I looooove camping and I looooove Ithaca. I met them at Robert Tremen Park and we ventured off onto the trails. The fall leaves were at peak and everything was oranges and yellows. It was so gorgeous, especially by the water.
We went to the other side of the park where I had never been before. It’s definitely on my to do list to return since we only did a little bit of the trail. I absolutely love this stone bridge!
This part of the trail has plenty of stone steps and bridges. It also has some fantastic views! If you’re looking for a place to hike, I highly recommend this place!
On our way into the park I noticed a pretty field. Even though we had spent a little extra time on the trail already I asked if they wanted to follow me out to this spot because I really wanted to utilize the landscape here. They agreed and thank goodness because it made for some gorgeous shots!
Part of the reason I offer an engagement session with every wedding collection is to really get to know my clients. Everyone is a little bit different in front of the camera and engagement sessions not only help me to get to know you and vice versa but it also allows me to see how comfortable couples are interacting in front of the camera. This kind of sets up a game plan for working towards that comfort level to capture the best shots in terms of bringing out unique personalities. Jenna and Chad’s personalities really come out when they play. These last photos are my absolute favorite! And now I know exactly how to incorporate this knowledge into their wedding day so their wedding photos will be exactly what I’m looking for as an artist and exactly what they’re looking for as clients. EVERYBODY WINS! So the moral of the story here is to partake in your engagement session.
I’m so happy that I got to spend this morning with them out in Ithaca. (And then made my customary stop at Ithaca Bakery for some delicious lunch!)
Jenna + Chad are getting married in August of next year and I’m so excited to spend this day with them.
