Helloooooooo world! So much has been happening this past week. I wouldn’t say I’m at a stand still but do you ever do 1001 things in a day and then you reflect back on your day and feel like you’ve made no progress and you’ve accomplished nothing? That’s been my life this past week. We returned from a soggy camping trip up in the Adirondacks which we ended early due to rain and ever since I’ve been running around trying to settle back into the routine of work, cleaning the house and warring against a mountain of laundry that I’m convinced is magically charmed to never actually shrink. The laundry never ends. IT NEVER ENDS.
Alright. Anyway. That’s where I’m at this week. But it’s getting better.
I sat down in my favorite place this morning (my upstairs office) and settled into answering client emails, scheduling some meetings/photoshoots and writing up a few contracts. I finished a mini session shoot, culled a wedding and now I’m here blogging what is, so far, one of my most favorite engagement sessions this summer.
Kristina + Mike’s engagement session took place just one week before their wedding. These two live in New Jersey and between covid last year and correlating schedules with travel, it’s the soonest we could all get together. I’m SO happy we did though. Kristina and Mike are the greatest couple with the best energy. They chose to do their engagement session on Mike’s family homestead (where the wedding also took place). It was such a beautiful backdrop for photos – engagement and wedding alike.
Windsor is normally a 30 minute trip from where I live but Mike’s family property is in deep Windsor nearly an hour away. They gave me directions into this deep woods location and I was pretty sure I would get lost but I eventually found my way up the long drive to this beautiful forested property which boasts a large pond and acres of gorgeous ferns (my favorite – have you seen my logo??) and hardwoods.
We wandered the property and were lucky enough to have some of that lovely morning sunshine which makes that light and airy feel so easy to accomplish. These are just some of my favorite shots from their engagement session…
I had so much fun getting to know these two. After we finished their engagement session we sat inside to go over their wedding day schedule. Mike’s mom and grandmother were also there and it was so much fun sitting and chatting with the family. They were all so warm and welcoming and made me feel like one of their own. These old pines kind of made me feel like I was shooting up in the ADK mountains. I loved this part of the woods with all the ferns. It reminds me of something out of a fairytale. Kristina and Mike’s wedding took place just a short week later. The weather was just as beautiful and we took a TON of gorgeous shots which I’ll be blogging next.
Stay tuned!
