Ali + Matt
It is a deliciously cozy day today in upstate NY. Everything is grey and the rain is coming down and I’m cozied up in my office with my heater on and a steamy cup of tea. My big black cat, Salem, is snuggled up in his spot by the window and I can hear him snoring while he sleeps. Every now and then I look over at him because he’s so stinking cute and I love that he is my constant office companion. The dogs have chosen not to be my office buddies today and they’re currently snuggled up in my bed. I’ve covered them both with blankets and smooched their heads so if you’re curious as to how spoiled they are, let me assure you that it is VERY.

I have a few things on my task list in my office today but the ambiance of the day has reminded me of a rainy photoshoot I did this past fall at Salt Springs right over the border in PA. Thankgod we didn’t reschedule because of the rain. The leaves were on point and by the end of the session, the rain had passed and the sun had come out. You couldn’t have asked for more out of an engagement session.

When I’m in the midst of my busy season for photography, I don’t get as much of a chance to share my work on the blog. It is extremely time consuming to go through all of the photos after a shoot, especially when I have the next session or wedding queued up to complete and I like to get photos back to my clients as soon as possible. Every year I think I’ll get better at blogging but it just doesn’t work out that way. My priority is always my turn around time and I suppose for my clients, that’s a good thing! But who knows, maybe 2025 is my year.

I knew right away that I wanted to share this particular engagement session once we did it. I love, love, LOVE this aesthetic for both engagement sessions and weddings. Rain is always welcome in my world. It creates such a dreamy vibe.

I picked out some of my top favorites to share but it was tough narrowing it down. Ali and Matt were so much fun to work with. They had great chemistry, were down to adventure and quite obviously super photogenic. They made my job cake work.

By the time we had ventured up to the field, the rain had stopped and the sun was coming out. It was the perfect ending to this engagement session. I love that darker contrast for rainy photos but I’m also a huge fan of that light and airy look. I basically just work with the light to make the shoot as true to life as possible.

Thanks for spending a few rainy day moments with me. 🙂
All the love,
-Jen
