Megan + Justin
I am so excited to share this blog with you! Megan and Justin’s wedding at Dutch Harvest Farm in Lansing, NY was stunningly gorgeous. We even lucked out with an epic sunset.

This was my first time at this particular wedding venue and it did not disappoint. I knew immediately that I would like this place after I saw the bee apiary’s onsite. You can almoooost see them off in the distance to the right of the main barn.

The barn is not only beautiful from the outside but features space for both bride and groom to get ready onsite. We were even able to sneak outside for some pre-getting ready photos without the guys seeing us. There’s so much space here to work with!

A short walk from the main wedding venue is the ceremony pergola which overlooks a pond and some stunning scenery. This particular wedding day was windy and I heard that other weddings had rain in the area but we got super lucky. This wedding was filled with all sorts of good omens, honestly. While I was photographing the dress I spied a praying mantis clinging to the ceiling right above it. It was too far away for me to capture it with a 35mm and I didn’t have time to switch to a zoom lens but I did point it out to Megan.

Fun fact! Megan’s dad is a pastor and not only did he walk her down the aisle with Megan’s mom but he officiated the ceremony as well. The ceremony was short and sweet and ended not only with a kiss but with a secret handshake.

We immediately went into family photos and Megan and Justin may have set the record for the most family photos taken. After flying through those we got some GORGEOUS sunset backlight for wedding party and bride and groom photos. The wedding party was so much fun! So much fun in fact, the groom ended up with a nosebleed. Considering the action shots we got, WORTH IT. Justin was a great sport.

Megan had Business is Blooming do her flowers and they were so stunningly beautiful. I love doing the flower wreath for the bride. These are just a couple of my favorites but there’s well over a dozen in their actual wedding gallery.

Behind the pond is this really pretty overgrown area. That’s my favorite kind of place to adventure to for bride and groom photos. The sun was just starting to go down and we really lucked out with all that golden, dreamy light.

I love when brides have flowy dresses meant for spinning! Especially when the wind kicks in to add a little extra drama. Scroll down for some of my favorites!

The reception was the best partly because the crowd was so much fun but also because I got to work alongside my buddy Andy from AP Entertainment. He is by far one of my most favorite DJ’s and I highly recommend him if you’re in the market for a wedding DJ!

We ended the night with some sweet nighttime shots. Megan had purchased glow sticks AND throwing streamers. This was my first go with streamers and now I want every wedding to have them. The end result was so cool!

If you’re planning a wedding and love that rustic vibe, I highly recommend checking out Dutch Harvest Farms. This place is picture perfect and an epic place for a rustic upstate NY wedding.
