I’m finally doing it! This whole not sharing 1001 wedding portraits goes against my innate will to show ALL the pictures but I’m getting better.
Thank you for bearing with me.
Hannah + Dan’s wedding took place at the West Branch Angler Resort in Deposit, NY. I’m absolutely in love with this venue for a few reasons.
Firstly, fly fishing. Ever heard of it? It’s just the best ever sport and I’m a giant nerd about it. Being on the river is the most relaxing thing in the world to me.
Secondly, they have multiple cabins that can be rented for bridal parties and they serve as such a pretty backdrop for portraits. The whole venue is actually gorgeous for pictures. Not only is it right on the river but the reception space is rustic and accommodating, there’s a field up above the venue that reminds me so much of the Adirondacks and is gorgeous for pictures (see below) and there’s a ceremony space right outside of the main building perfect for any rustic wedding.
Thirdly, the staff are amazing. They work super hard to make sure everyone is taken care of and the food is YUM. Wedding food is so important. I’ve been to weddings in the past where the food has been terrible. When planning your wedding I highly recommend that if you’re not getting married at a venue like this who is notorious for their delicious eats, you look carefully over past reviews of caterers. (Or condemn yourself and your guests to the toilet for the next 24-48 hours. I’m JUST SAYIN.)
As always, my day starts photographing detail shots. I was super excited when I arrived because Kay Alvarez was there doing makeup. If you haven’t heard of this incredibly talented woman (and her photographer husband) I highly recommend looking them up. This was my first official time meeting Kay even though we’ve chatted on and off over social media for a long while now.
As soon as I walked in I saw her face and was like “I KNOW YOU!” and then fan girl’d hard. Kay is not only a SUPER talented artist, but she’s super sweet and fun to work with. Hannah + Dan wanted to do a first look so we chose to do it right on the river. Their wedding day was MUCH different than their engagement photos. While their engagement was high sun and super bright, their wedding day was overcast which actually makes shooting so much easier. Cloudy days make for even exposure on all of your photos so we have more options to choose from angle wise.I love getting these first impressions. After the first look we rolled right into doing the bride/groom portraits as well as the wedding party. These are just *some* of my favorites.I love having my brides spin.I had to include this picture because I love the fact that Hannah is jumping across rocks in heels. The bridal party was an awesome group of people. They were so much fun to work with! This is the field I wrote about up above. I know that this is the Catskills but I grew up in the Adirondacks so any backdrop that reminds me of home becomes an instant favorite. Once we were finished with photos we went right into the ceremony. Hannah + Dan’s wedding ceremony was super unique. I loved their guest speakers and the combination of traditional as well as non-traditional.This is only the second time I’ve seen a shot done during a wedding ceremony.
First kiss as husband and wife! The reception was wonderful. The staff at the West Branch Angler Resort are quick, efficient and super friendly. Ok. THIS GUY DANCING. The facial expressions. The sweet dance moves. I couldn’t get enough. It’s really not a party unless everyone is dancing like this. We had so much fun shooting Hannah + Dan’s wedding.
A huge shout out to these vendors for making the day so wonderful.
