Lexi + Matt – Wedding at 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel

Happy New Year everyone! How was everyone’s holiday!? How was your New Years? WHO GOT ENGAGED?! Tell. Me. Everything.

Ok, you can’t because it’s just me here. I’ve clearly had a lot of time inside of my house. But you’re welcome to email me all the details. I am HERE for it.

I am so excited to be back in my office full time doing all things photography. To start that off I’m going to share one of my most favorite couples, Lexi + Matt. This wedding took place in Clayton, NY right on the St. Lawrence River. The 1000 islands is a gorgeous place for a wedding and this one did not disappoint. The day started off rainy but it stopped right in time for the wedding ceremony. The clouds remained however and they were epic. At one point my second shooter exclaimed “Omg, JEN!” and that’s all she really had to say. No one loves a more beautiful and dramatic natural background than a wedding photographer.

Lexi and her bridal party got ready just a stones throw away from the Harbor Hotel. The enclosed porch had so much natural light and was a great place for all the detail shots.

A true friend makes sure there’s no lipstick on your teeth. I love this picture of Lexi’s mom looking at her. Also, her eyes are such a beautiful blue color! That’s always the first thing I notice when I see this picture. So beautiful! If you have the opportunity to do a first look with your bridesmaids, I highly recommend you do. Their reactions are always so priceless. Matt and his groomsmen were just a short distance away so we jetted over to take a few quick pics before heading to the Harbor Hotel. Matt was already ready but we told him to pretend. Shh.The 1000 islands Harbor Hotel is right on the St. Lawrence river. I’m so glad Morgan had time to snap a few wide angle shots. This place is great on a rainy day but I bet it’s heavenly when the sun is shining.

Morgan also got this shot of Lexi’s mom and one of her bridesmaids up in one of the rooms overlooking the ceremony space and river.Lucky for us the rain stopped just in time for the ceremony. The event planner was literally teetering on what to do when we first arrived and thankfully she made the right call. It was a little chilly but otherwise a perfect day for a wedding. This is definitely my favorite shot out of the whole ceremony.A good mindset to have when it’s your wedding day!My favorite part of the day is the bride and groom portraits. With the sky a dramatic contrast of dark grey and white and then slowly transitioning into a glowy yellow, I was SUPER pumped to do these wedding portraits. These two were so much fun. There were a ton of wedding day blooper shots and I kept them all because I knew Lexi and Matt would appreciate them as much as I did. That sky though! The reception space was beautifully decorated and I loved the lighting. The food was AMAZING (Props to the Harbor Hotel and staff) and everyone had an epically good time. When dad’s cry, I cry.

I had so much fun shooting this wedding but I couldn’t have done it without my second shooter, Morgan, and all the vendors who helped make this day so wonderful. Check them out below!
