If you’ve been following me for a time you’ll know that Mapleshade Farm in Delhi, NY is one of my most favorite rustic wedding venues in the Catskills. I usually book a wedding there every year and I’m grateful each and every time I get to go. I never run out of things to photograph as the details in this place are numerous. If you’re a bride or groom looking for lots of rustic detail, this venue is for you.
With that said, I need to make mention of the incredible Roxbury Motel. Kelly and Noah’s wedding day began here and it was a first for me. I’m really hoping it’s not a last because I would LOVE to go back to this place. The Roxbury is an artist’s dream. It literally looks like you’ve walked into a fairytale. Every room has a theme and it makes for the most amazing backdrop for getting ready photos.
This will forever be one of my most favorite dress shots.
Another huge perk to the Roxbury are the nature trails right next door which lead to a gorgeous waterfall. Naturally this became the setting for our first look and the beginning of our bride and groom photos. I wish we had more time to do more outside here but we were caught in a torrential downpour halfway through our portraits and had to hightail it back to the motel room.
I love Noah’s reaction to seeing Kelly for the first time.
Fun fact! Kelly and Noah’s wedding was the first rainy day wedding of the wedding season and EVERY SINGLE wedding after this, it rained. Every. One.
Once we made it to Mapleshade farm we had periods where we simply had to wait out the rain as it came down in sheets. Once it transitioned to a light drizzle we were out making the best of it.
I know every bride and groom gets a little disappointed when it rains on their wedding day. Especially if it affects the ceremony and things need to be moved inside. However, rainy day weddings are SO romantic and Kelly and Noah had the most gorgeous chemistry. They were so much fun together and I loved seeing how easily they could make each other laugh.
Not all heroes wear capes.
There was a lot of back and forth as to where the ceremony would be held and if the rain would hold off long enough but ultimately, we couldn’t avoid the torrential downpours and thunderstorms in the forecast. I watched Abby and Jay (the owner’s of Mapleshade) hustle like never before to get everything inside and setup. Those two work SO hard and really go the extra mile for their wedding couples.
The rest of the day went smooth as butter and I loved getting to hear the speeches and all about the many adventures Kelly and Noah have been on already.
As always, I am eternally grateful and honored that my clients entrust me with such an important part of their wedding day. I loved getting to know Kelly and Noah and documenting their wedding day. I would like to make mention of the vendors who participated and 100% recommend everyone listed below! Definitely check them out for your own wedding.
