As a wedding photographer, every event presents a unique canvas of emotions, moments, and natural beauty. Amidst all the weddings I’ve had the pleasure to document, there’s one that stands out as particularly enchanting, a rainy day celebration in a picturesque garden. I’m so excited to blog Megan and Kevin’s gorgeous wedding at the Mirabeau Inn in Skaneateles, NY.
From the first glimpse of the venue, I knew this wedding would be something special. The garden, with its winding paths, vibrant flowers, and towering trees, seemed straight out of a fairytale. And when the rain began to fall softly from the sky, it only added to the enchantment of the day.
From the moment I arrived at the venue, the air was alive with anticipation. Clouds hung low, threatening rain, but the atmosphere was filled with an undeniable sense of excitement. As the bride and groom prepared for their big day, there was a serene calmness about them, a reassurance that nothing, not even the weather, could dampen their spirits.
The bride’s sister, Kelsey, looked so beautiful in her dress that we had to step away for her own quick photoshoot. When I told her how awesome she was at posing she replied with “I’m a theater kid!” OF COURSE! She was an absolute natural and we had so much fun. She informed me that her dress is from Selkie and after perusing their website I quickly became obsessed with all of their dresses. If you’re looking for a unique dress yourself, I highly recommend checking out Selkie. (Also – Selkie – If you’re looking for a brand ambassador….I’m sure both Kelsey and I would be up for the job! lol)
We did a first look with Megan’s dad and brother before the first look with the groom himself. The reactions were so sweet.
As I captured each precious moment through my lens, I couldn’t help but feel grateful to be a part of such a beautiful celebration. There was a rawness and authenticity to this wedding that spoke to the true essence of love – imperfect, unpredictable, and utterly beautiful.
The garden itself was a masterpiece of nature’s design; lush greenery, vibrant blooms, and winding pathways that seemed to lead to hidden treasures. But it was the rain that truly transformed the scene, casting everything in a soft, ethereal light. Instead of seeking shelter, guests embraced the weather, relishing in the romance of the moment.
As the ceremony began, a gentle drizzle descended, adding a poetic backdrop to the exchange of vows. Together, they pledged their love amidst the tranquil beauty of the garden, surrounded by their closest friends and family.
In the end, it wasn’t the grandeur of the venue or the perfection of the weather that made this wedding unforgettable. It was the simple, raw beauty of two souls coming together in love, against the backdrop of a rainy garden, that left an indelible mark on everyone who was fortunate enough to be a part of it.
In the dance between raindrops and romance, every moment becomes a testament to the enduring power of love. And in a beautiful garden, on a rainy day, that love shines brighter than ever. I’m so, so grateful I could be a part of Megan and Kevin’s wedding day at the Mirabeau.
I want to give a huge shoutout to the staff at Mirbeau Inn. The rain definitely caused for some extra work but they handled it gracefully and made the day so perfect. This is the most perfect place for a small, intimate wedding.
