Nicole + David – Albany, NY Wedding

I am not only super excited to share Nicole and David’s wedding but I’m also just a little bit sad. I KNOW! I’M A SAP! But I hold a special place in my heart for these two.

I first met David when he hired me to take pictures of their actual engagement. He had scheduled an up close and personal encounter with penguins at Animal Adventure Park where they would “paint” and help David propose with a painting that said ‘Will You Marry Me?’ SO SWEET! This was the year when we received 4 feet of snow so it ALMOST didn’t happen. David had actually texted me to get an idea of what else we could do but I was like “YOU CAN’T TOP PENGUINS!” Thankfully, the staff at Animal Adventure are amazing and we still got to keep our appointment. I pretended to be Animal Adventures personal PR photographer so Nicole had no idea. It was epically wonderful and Nicole’s surprise was the BEST to capture. When she learned that I was actually hired for the purpose of her engagement we became fast friends.

We took some pictures around the park but we also did another more formal engagement in Ithaca.

And now their wedding. Nicole and David have since moved out of state and I’m FEELIN IT. Usually when I connect with clients this way we stay in touch for future maternity pictures, newborn and family photos. It’ll be a little hard to do with these guys since they’re now at the opposite end of the country. Don’t get me wrong, I’m super happy for them. But selfishly, I’m sad for me. lol I absolutely adore these two so much.

Their wedding took place in Albany, NY. What a gorgeous spot for a wedding! I love this city.Nicole’s Dad is a retired police officer so she had his badge sewed into her dress. I thought that was the sweetest detail. No sweaty feet here!Nicole and David each wrote each other a letter before the wedding ceremony.Nicole also did a first look with her dad. While I was with Nicole, my second shooter, Dan, was off with the guys.Nicole rolling up to the church in style…Are you guys ready!?The ring bearer got a little bit nervous walking down that long aisle by himself so the priest went to fetch him. SO CUTE!Nicole and David were married at The Church of Immaculate conception in Albany. This church is absolutely stunning. I actually used natural lighting to shoot because the light was so beautiful inside and flash would just ruin it. I loved this send off!On our way to the reception space we stopped at this covered bridge at Lily Park. It was such a cool place for wedding portraits. I *clap* LOVE *clap* HER *clap*!These cuff links were a gift from Nicole. They read “Today my groom, forever my husband.”These two have the best personalities. They were obviously made for each other. Right near the covered bridge is this gate that leads to a historic home. We obviously didn’t trespass (I would NEVER…) but the gates out front were SO pretty and the lighting was perfect. We finally made it to the Olde Tater Barn which was a super cool place bordered by a corn field. There was also some pretty willow trees that we took full advantage of. LOL David’s face. The reception space was awesome and full of well thought out details.First dance as husband and wife.Dan was obviously a big hit. Such a great guy and awesome photographer!Luckily these two are a couple which is GREAT because the dancing was HILARIOUS. The night ended with a sparkler send off. Such a beautiful ending to a perfect night. A huge thank you to these amazing vendors who helped make their wedding day so perfect!
