Another bright and sunny engagement session in Ithaca, NY! Normally when I’m in Ithaca there’s a waterfall involved and some gorge or other with flowing water and deep shadows. Annie and Kurt decided to switch it up and we met at the botanical gardens on Cornell Campus where the sun was high and the wind was zilch.
We were SO HOT! But we traipsed around the majority of the property anyway and sought out shady places for pretty engagement pictures. Annie was able to keep us straight with her exceptional navigational skills which, from what I’m told, has come in use in their previous world travels. When I became a little turned around in the woods, Annie knew just how to get us back.
I’ve only been to Cornell’s botanical gardens one other time with a wedding which took place in November so everything was yellows and oranges. It was really beautiful but SO different than what the gardens look like in the summer. I’m not sure which I prefer more, honestly. But I would definitely love to come back soon for more engagement photos. OR wedding! OR anything really.
(If you want to check out Cornell’s botanical gardens in the fall, check out Melissa and Pete’s Ithaca Wedding Blog here. )
I had so much fun getting to know these two and I’m so excited to shoot their wedding in September of next year!
You can’t have an engagement session at a beautiful garden display and not use a flower as a backdrop for an engagement ring. Iris’ are so pretty. I love the deep purples. There were so many gorgeous flowers growing here that it was hard to choose which would serve as a proper backdrop.
As always I swung over to Ithaca bakery after my engagement session. Ithaca is such an incredible place, not only for pictures but just for visiting in general. I would probably live here if my cards had read a little bit different but I’m grateful I’m in close enough driving range where I can visit often.
I have a bunch more engagement sessions planned this summer and fall in Ithaca and a few weddings as well!
